I completed level one and didn't notice a medal notification in-game, but when I refreshed the page, the medal was indeed unlocked! Woohoo!

I haven't made an in-game notification yet. I can't exactly just drag and drop the flash one afterall. Sprite-based would be the easiest way to look like the flash version, I think. *does a quick sketch*
To make a popup that looks like the flash default it'd need to be roughly this:

Not sure if/when I'll get around to making that; I probably couldn't be the sprite artist for it (wouldn't make something that looked that much like the original unless I literally ripped it (recorded the popup popping up).
